Tom’s an enthusiastic volunteer with a great love of the arts, especially music. A guitarist for many years, he avidly follows a number for artists, including some local bands that he has arranged for us to cover. (See links below)
After suffering a brain injury, Tom found this love of the arts had grown hugely, but his main concern after his injury was how he could show his gratitude to all who’ve helped him move on. Firstly by doing a sponsored walk across Swansea Bay to raise money for Morriston Hospital's’ Neurological ICU, which he claims was a good day out with family and friends.
After getting a Short Course qualification in Music Technology, he then found out about I AM News through SCVS, Swansea’s local Council for Voluntary Service. He was very interested in using the skills he had gained in college for video production.
In his spare time Tom enjoys reading novels, many of which films he’s watched are based on, feeling once you’ve seen a film the novel it’s based on can be a lot more entertaining, because it lets your mind paint the scenery.
Lastly Tom has spent many hours volunteering for charities, including The British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research. And, of course, helping out and building his many skills with I AM News.
